ISEC 2026 - Workshops & Tutorials

Workshops & Tutorials – Call for Proposals

ISEC 2026 invites proposals for Workshops and Tutorials to be held on the first day of the conference. We seek engaging and insightful sessions that cater to audiences from both academia and industry, aiming to explore established as well as emerging research topics in the field of software engineering.

Proposals are invited for:

  • Half-day Workshops/Tutorials: 3 hours duration
  • Full-day Workshops/Tutorials: 6 hours duration

The focus areas include, but are not limited to, all aspects of software engineering. (Please refer to the list in the main conference Call for Papers under the Research Track for a comprehensive set of topics.)

We encourage proposals that provide interactive, hands-on experiences, share cutting-edge research findings, or offer practical insights beneficial for both researchers and practitioners.

Call for Workshop Proposals

Call for Workshop Proposals

The workshops at the Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (ISEC) provide a forum for groups of 20-50 participants to discuss topics in software engineering research and practice. ISEC Workshops can be quite diverse. They serve as incubators for scientific communities that form and share a particular research agenda. They also provide opportunities for researchers to exchange and discuss scientific and engineering ideas at an early stage, before they have matured to warrant conference or journal publication. Workshops at ISEC 2026 will be held on Feb 19, 2026 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Participation in ISEC workshops is open to all attendees of ISEC.

Submissions

All proposals must not exceed 4 pages. If your workshop includes call for papers then you can add one more page of draft Call for papers.

The workshop proposal must include the following information, in the order specified.

  • Workshop Title
  • Abstract (200 words or fewer), suited for the ISEC 2026 website
  • Contact Information for all workshop organizers, including the main contact person
  • Motivation and Objectives
    • Relevance of the workshop to the field of software engineering.
    • Anticipated goals and outcomes (e.g., open research problems to pursue, validation objectives, empirical studies).
  • Format and Required Services
    • Workshop format (e.g., paper presentations, keynotes, breakout sessions, panel-like discussions) and plans for generating discussions.
    • Intended length (half day or full day).
    • Special services, logistic and/or equipment constraints.
  • Target Audience
    • Expected background of the workshop attendees.
    • Plans regarding the mix of industry and research participation.
    • Expected minimum and maximum number of workshop participants.
    • Plans for soliciting and selecting workshop participants, including whether the workshop will be open or closed (in case of a closed workshop, provide a justification).
  • Workshop History
    • Number of registered attendees and websites of previous editions of the workshop (if any)
  • Organizers’ bios
    • A brief description of each organizer’s background, including relevant past experience in organizing conferences and workshops.

Proposal Review Criteria

ISEC welcomes long-running successful workshops. Therefore, the chairs may desk-accept proposals for workshops that have had at least 20 participants, on average, over at prior two years’ instances of that workshop. Proposals for new workshops should carefully consider existing workshops and co-located events to avoid duplication or significant overlaps as these may be desk-rejected. You can visit ISEC website and see the pages for previous editions of ISEC and co-located workshops. All other proposals that meet the basic requirements identified in the call will be evaluated by the workshop chairs and any additional reviewers the chairs may consider fit to review a proposal.

For Accepted Workshops

For all accepted workshops, ISEC 2026 requires uniform deadlines for workshop papers submission, notification of authors, and camera-ready copies, as described in the Important Dates below. Papers must have a maximum length of 8 pages.

Important Points to Consider

ISEC does not publish any companion/additional proceedings for the workshop papers. Workshop organizers need to arrange for publishing the proceedings of their respective workshops. Some options are: Arxiv (eg https://arxiv.org/abs/2111.07538 ) or CEUR-WS.org (eg https://ceur-ws.org/Vol-1561/ ). If organizers of all the accepted workshops decide to publish a joint proceeding of ISEC 2026 workshops then the workshop chairs can help in coordinating it.

ISEC 2026 will not be able to pay for registration, travel, or other arrangements for workshop organizers. ISEC 2026 will also not pay for any specially arranged social event by the workshops. All participants, including workshop organizers must register for the workshop. For the keynote speakers of the workshops, the ISEC normally provides complimentary registrations and in some cases the travel/accommodation support. The organizers of accepted workshops must check for the same with the workshop chairs before committing any such benefit to the potential keynote speakers. Workshop organizers cannot submit papers to their own workshop and cannot become keynote/invited speakers in their own workshop. This restriction extends to workshop organizers’ currently directly supervised students, even if the particular submitted work does not include the workshop organizer.

Call for Proposals: Tutorials and Technical Briefings

The tutorials track at ISEC 2026 is aimed to provide an opportunity for conference participants to learn, explore and gain knowledge (including hands-on and working sessions) on topics ranging from theoretical foundations to practical techniques in the broad area of software engineering. The tutorial track serves as an opportunity for researchers and industry experts to present advances in the field of software engineering providing insights for young students and researchers to get an overview of the research area and to further pursue research. A tutorial can be half or full day event with one or more presenters/instructors.

The Technical Briefing sessions on the other hand are relatively short and crisp 45-minute technical talks. Presenters are expected to introduce an emerging technical area and optionally present some initial research results/practices. We also welcome position/point-of-view talks on the future of software engineering research and how advances in other technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence may change the software engineering research and practice in the near future. These sessions also invite reports on interesting innovations that came out while solving some real world complex problem related to any area(s) of software engineering.
