As technology and society evolve, so too must the scope, methods, and ambitions of Requirements Engineering (RE) research. This interactive fishbowl panel invites researchers from across the RE community to reflect on the field’s future directions—exploring not only what topics deserve our attention, be it the rise and disruption caused by AI, agile RE, interdisciplinary research, but also why we choose them, that is how and why researchers deem these or other topics important and decide to work on them. We aim to bring diverse perspectives into an open dialogue, involving not only seasoned researchers but also younger ones to inspire a shared vision for RE’s future and foster a deeper understanding of how our values, context, and goals influence the work we pursue.
