Professor Sarah Barns ICT development often appears to follow an inevitable path of progress, with technologies and strategies simply appearing and then quickly becoming a normal part of our increasingly digtialised world. But through strategic interventions, ICT development can be aligned with collective goals of social equity, environmental resilience, and economic prosperity. In this session, Sarah Barns will reflect upon the various ways that individuals and organisations can actively steer ICT towards sustainability ends.

Through her work on smart cities and digital platforms, she supports transdisciplinary collaborations with organisations from the public sector, private sector, academia, and civil society. Her ultimate aim is to use ICT to create an inclusive, creative and sustainable world.
