VL/HCC 2021
Welcome to VL/HCC 2021!
From the beginning of the computer age, people have sought easier ways to learn, express, and understand computational ideas. Whether this meant moving from punch cards to textual languages, or command lines to graphical UIs, the quest to make computation easier to express, manipulate, and understand by a broader group of people is an ongoing challenge.
The IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing (VL/HCC) is the premier international forum for research on this topic. Established in 1984, the mission of the conference is to support the design, theory, application, and evaluation of computing technologies and languages for programming, modeling, and communicating, which are easier to learn, use, and understand by people.
The 2021 symposium is scheduled to take place October 10-13 in St. Louis, Mo. Our special emphasis for 2021 is Interaction at a Distance. IEEE VL/HCC 2021 is 100% Sponsored by IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Multimedia Computing (TCMC).
The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority. After evaluating the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the decision has been made to transform the in-person component of the IEEE VL/HCC 2021 conference into an all-digital conference experience – IEEE VL/HCC 2021 will now be an online event. Therefore, IEEE VL/HCC 2021 will no longer take place in St. Louis MO and will instead take place virtually. The conference dates remain the same – October 10-13, 2021. Proceedings will not be cancelled, and publications will continue as planned. For questions, contact ckelleher@wustl.edu.
