Please book your accommodation early, as Munich hosts Oktoberfest the week prior to ESEIW and other events during ESEIW itself. Hotels tend to fill up quickly.

You can also choose other accommodations in Munich, as the city’s public transportation system is very safe, efficient, and convenient to reach the venue. However, if you prefer choosing an accommodation in the city of Munich, we recommend choosing accommodation on the northern section of the U6 metro line and in proximity to metro stations of that line as it connects directly to the conference venue at its final station. South of the metro station Sendlinger Tor, service interruptions and replacement transport may still be occurring since maintenance work scheduled for the summer in addition. That is, booking accommodation further south on the U6 route may come with a longer commute. Please keep also in mind that commutes from further south downtown may require a bit more than anticipated during rush hours (affecting also metro lines).

A few notes on the areas and metro stations along the route:

• The conference venue and recommended hotel is at the metro station of the TUM Campus Garching (“Garching Forschungszentrum”)
• The very next station connects to “Garching”, a convenient small town option close to the research campus, with quick U6 access to the venue and a quieter local setting than central Munich. Here, you can find budget-friendly hotel options such as the ibis hotel or motel one.
• “Ismaning” is a quieter suburban option between Munich and Garching, convenient for participants who are looking for (much) calmer areas while remaining rather close to the venue. However, note that it is a transit connected through a bus line.
• Metro station “Nordfriedhof” is located at the northern Munich city area within the U6 corridor, close to several technology offices and business restricts, where also fortiss, the research institute is located.
• Following that line further down towards the city center, two stations below Nordfriedhof, is “Münchner Freiheit”, a very lively area with many evening options, restaurants, cafés, and bars. We believe that this is a good spot for participants who want easy dinners and social activities after sessions.
• “Marienplatz” is the historical city center of Munich which is a spot for sightseeing, central (not necessarily budget friendly) hotels and direct access to the old town. This is mostly pedestrian area only with plenty of shopping miles.
• “Sendlinger Tor”, finally, marks the outskirt of the pedestrian area and point after which we do not recommend booking accommodation due to expected interruptions as well as the longer commute to the conference venue.
