Rigid software architecture cannot anymore support modern open systems like IoT system. In these systems, even deployment and roles of component may change. We need to make software architecture more flexible. We are studying aspect-oriented modeling mechanism for ultra-flexible software architecture and developing model-driven development environment based on this mechanism. In this talk, we introduce this mechanism hopefully with a case study, and discuss the role of advanced modularity techniques, our mechanism and others, in software modeling and design.
