Tue 4 - Sat 8 June 2024 Hyderabad, Telangana, India
Sat 8 Jun 2024 09:30 - 10:30 - Keynote Session

The rapid evolution of cloud-native technologies has transformed software development practices. However, while certain innovations offer substantial benefits, others may pose challenges or have adverse effects depending on the context. This keynote aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by demystifying the current hypes surrounding cloud-native technologies. We will explore how empirical research can inform practical applications, ensuring that new advancements are leveraged effectively and responsibly. Join us to gain insights into the nuanced impacts of these technologies and learn how to navigate the ever-changing landscape of cloud-native systems.

Davide Taibi is Full professor at the University of Oulu, and Tampere University, Finland.

His research activities are focused on software quality in cloud-based systems, supporting companies in keeping Technical Debt under control while migrating to cloud-native architectures. Moreover, he is interested in cloud-related patterns, anti-patterns, and “bad smells” that can help companies to avoid issues during the development process both in monolithic systems and in cloud-native ones.

Formerly, he worked at the Free University of Bolzano, Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Fraunhofer IESE - Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Università degli Studi dell’Insubria, Italy. In 2011 she was one of the co-founders of Opensoftengineering s.r.l., a spin-off company of the Università degli Studi dell’Insubria.
