Monday, 3pm - 5pm (Irish time), 7am-9am (US PST)
This hands-on workshop will guide participants through the sustainability challenges and solutions in cloud infrastructure, with a deeper dive into the energy implications of microservices in cloud environments. In the first half, Shilpa Shastri will lead a session on sustainability in cloud computing. Participants will take part in an interactive exercise designed to explore cloud optimization strategies that reduce carbon footprint. In the second half, Supriya Lal will shift the focus to the software layer, uncovering the hidden sustainability costs of running microservices and exploring potential cloud-based solutions. Attendees will monitor cloud costs and resource usage through a hands-on exercise, and gain insights into how architecture choices impact both energy consumption and cloud billing. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with practical strategies to drive sustainability in both cloud infrastructure and cloud-based software architecture.
