ICT4S 2025
Mon 9 - Fri 13 June 2025 Dublin, Ireland

The conference will have the characteristics of a conventional academic conference with paper presentations published by the IEEE, workshops, posters and a doctoral symposium. The event will also host international speakers and workshops for the public.

However, ICT4S 2025 has introduced some innovative developments ,to reduce its carbon footprint and to have a wider engagement and promotion of sustainability with society at a local and global level.

The conference will be the first GLOBAL, international conference on ICT and sustainability with a carbon-neutral footprint.

Central to this objective is the establishment of international Hubs on all seven continents (Yes, Antarctica will be included) which will provide remote Hybrid access to the main conference at UCD via Zoom. The conference will minimise its footprint and offset unavoidable emissions by carbon-offset projects through corporate sponsorship

The Hub/Hybrid Concept

  1. International hubs (typically universities) will participate virtually through zoom. They will be able to see and present accepted papers to the main event at UCD. However, hubs will also be encouraged to organise their own local paper presentations (that will not be included in the conference papers), workshops, projects and posters covering all aspects of sustainability that may include local businesses. These will be highlighted and published in a special on-line magazine, designed specifically for the conference.
  2. The special on-line conference magazine will be launched and accept submissions for inclusion from January 2025. This will enable hubs to automatically upload content (which will be curated by the organising committee before publication) concerning their local conference activities in advance of the conference. This will give, particularly dis-advantaged or remote hubs, who may not be in an economically able to attend or present a paper, a platform to present sustainability-related projects or developments that are relevant and important to them. It will also afford them the opportunity to network with other groups around the world.
  3. The degree of involvement in the conference by each hub is at their discretion. Some may only attend on-line for a day or so.
  4. Hubs will be provided with a zoom link to some of their local activities during the conference. These parallel sessions will be available to conference attendees and other hubs.
