In just 3 hours, the collaborative Climate Fresk workshop will teach you the fundamental science behind climate change and empower you to take action.
Climate Fresk is being used extensively across higher education to educate students in a fun and interactive way about the science behind climate change and help them identify how they can take positive action. The game was developed by a French NGO https://climatefresk.org/world/ and is designed to provide high quality climate education based on the sixth IPCC report. The aim is to raise awareness and understanding of climate change by engaging participants in a collaborative and interactive learning experience.
Participants start by arranging cards that represent different aspects of climate science on a large piece of paper, creating a coherent story of how these elements are interconnected. This phase helps them grasp the complexity and interdependencies within climate systems. The next phase encourages creativity, allowing participants to connect emotionally with the topic by adding drawings and annotations. Finally, the debriefing phase involves discussing emotions and brainstorming actionable steps towards a low-carbon future.
Overall, the experience is immersive and educational, fostering a deeper understanding of climate issues and inspiring proactive solutions. Participants can also become facilitators of Climate Fresk, which means that it can be rolled out at scale in University settings.
