Bio:

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor equivalent) at the Information Science Department of the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. Before being a Lecturer, I worked as a Postdoctoral fellow in the Software Reengineering Research Group at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, under the supervision of Prof. Ying Zou. My main research field is Empirical Software Engineering. I use methodologies such as machine learning, statistics and qualitative methods (e.g., surveys and interviews) to better understand the software development phenomena. The goal of my research is to augment the body of knowledge of the Software Engineering field and ultimately optimize the practice of software development. I obtained my MSc (2013) and PhD (2017) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, under the supervision of Prof. Uirá Kulesza. I was also supervised by Prof. Ahmed E. Hassan when I visited the Software Analysis and Intelligence Lab (SAIL) for more than 2 years in my PhD. I obtained my BSc in 2007 at the University Centre of Pará, in my hometown (Belém), Brazil.
