General Information

Transportation

Flagstaff is a tourist destination, and there are multiple ways of arriving here.

Arrival by Air

  • Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) is a 15-minute drive from the conference venue, and many hotels offer complimentary shuttle service. FLG provides air service to Phoenix and Dallas–Ft. Worth with several daily flights via American Airlines, part of the Oneworld alliance, allowing the combination of tickets to 14 other airlines, making it possible to fly to Flagstaff with just one stop from many major cities worldwide.
  • Phoenix Sky Harbour International Airport (PHX) is a 2-hour drive from Flagstaff. Shuttle service is available from PHX airport and Flagstaff (and back) throughout the day, making access to Flagstaff very easy from Phoenix. The shuttle departs the airport and stops very close to the conference venue. More details at ArizonaShuttle.com. PHX has non-stop flights to 132 destinations connecting all regions of the US and many international destinations (e.g., UK, Germany, Canada, Mexico).
  • Las Vegas (LAS) may be preferred by some passengers. It is a 4-hour scenic drive from Flagstaff. Las Vegas is also a popular tourist destination, offering affordable flights to multiple countries. Although many passengers prefer to rent a car and drive the scenic highway, a direct bus connects Las Vegas and Flagstaff. If time allows, we recommend a nice stop at Vegas, chill, and then drive or take a bus to Flagstaff

Car. Flagstaff is located at the intersection of US Interstate Highways 17 and 40, making driving easy from Los Angeles, Phoenix, Albuquerque, or Las Vegas. Participants who want to explore the Tourist Attractions in the area before/after the conference may rent a car and drive to Flagstaff or rent a car from one of the local agents.

Train. Flagstaff is accessible by the AMTRAK Southwest Chief, which makes two daily stops in Flagstaff: from the west, originating in Los Angeles (566 miles, 911 km from Flagstaff), and from the east, originating in Chicago (1700 miles, 2736 km from Flagstaff). The AMTRAK station is located in downtown Flagstaff, ½ mile from the High Country Conference Center.

Long-distance Buses for getting to Flagstaff. Greyhound has a terminal in Flagstaff and provides long-distance bus service from other major US cities.

Traveling around Flagstaff

Public Buses for transportation in and around Flagstaff. Eight Mountain Line bus lines provide public transportation in Flagstaff, as can be seen on https://mountainline.az.gov) and the FLGRide mobile app. Five bus lines stop at the conference center. Three more lines stop downtown (10 minutes walking distance).

Ride Share Services. As Flagstaff is a popular tourism destination, plenty of Uber and Lyft drivers are around the city, and waiting time is usually very short. Multiple taxi companies operate in the city. More details at https://www.flagstaffarizona.org/plan-your-trip/transportation/taxis-ridesharing/
