Traveling by train to Stockholm
Traveling by train to Stockholm from Europe is easy, there is a night train option and a day train option, both from Hamburg. The night trains start in Berlin.
There are two night trains from Hamburg to Stockholm but unfortunately both are very attractive and it can be hard to get tickets.
- SJ (Swedish Rail)
- Daily trains from Hamburg (except Saturdays nor on Friday June 21) that leave Hamburg at 23.59 and arrive to Stockholm 13.21 the following day
- Daily trains from Stockholm (except Saturdays) that leave Stockholm at 16.20 arrive 05.30 the following day.
- Snälltåget
- Daily trains from Hamburg (except Saturdays nor on Friday June 21) that leave Hamburg at 22.03 (21.37 on Saturdays) and arrive to Stockholm 09.57 the following day
- Daily trains from Stockholm (except Saturdays) that leave Stockholm at 17.34 arrive 06.00 the following day (08.56 on Sundays).
Traveling daytime between Hamburg to Stockholm
- SJ (Swedish Rail)
- Direct trains from Hamburg to Copenhagen (ca 5 hours) and from Copenhagen to Stockholm (ca 5 hours), for example on Sunday June 23:
- Leaving Hamburg 06.31, 08.55 or 10.53 and then leaving Copenhagen 12.22, 14.19 or 16.14 (arriving Stockholm 17.37, 19.37 or 21.38).
- Direct trains from Stockholm to Copenhagen and from Copenhagen to Hamburg, for example on Saturday June 29:
- Leaving Stockholm 05.31, 09.22 or 11.21 and then leaving Copenhagen 11.14, 15.15 or 17.14 (arriving Hamburg 16.03, 20.04 or 21.57).
Traveling from Arlanda airport to central Stockholm (Central Train Station and central subway station “T-Centralen”)
- Faster: Arlanda Express (train) from Arlanda to Stockholm
- Cheaper: Flygbussarna (bus) from Arlanda to Stockholm
- The Central Train Stations and the central subway station “T-Centralen” are connected and it takes only a few minutes to walk between them.

- Pay contactless with your credi tcard or download the app “SL - Journey planner and tickets” and buy your digital ticket directly in the app. Choose between:
- Single ticket = 42 SEK (3.50 Euros)
- 72-hour ticket = 350 SEK (28 Euros)
- 7-day ticket = 455 SEK (38 Euros)
