Do programming languages matter for correctness of code? A reproduction study
In this talk I will first speak about a recent Communication of the ACM paper which tried to answer whether the choice of programming language has an effect on bugs in software. To answer this, the authors performed a large scale analysis of GitHub repositories and of the commits made to them. I will present the results of a rigorous reproduction of their work and then I will address the issue of reproducibility of research in our community and our ethical responsibilities as researchers.
