Large Language Model (LLM)-based autonomous agents provide state-of-the-art performance in various tasks throughout the software development lifecycle. Though the applications employing the agents can be implemented in Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), the standalone applications is not optimal for human program mers’ utilization. This doctoral project proposes a framework of a mediator agent acting as the sole medium between programmer, IDE tools, agentic tools, and external multi-agent systems. The framework aims to simplify tool usage and automate management of in-IDE tools and other agentic tools that can be implemented in the future. By implementing a unified mediator agent, this project expects to set the stage of human-computer interaction in the era of LLM-based autonomous agents, enhance programmer productivity, and advance in software engineering automation.
