Hybridization
At this conference, we combine in-person and remote participation recognizing that participants have different means of attending. Our format is designed to make the most of both on-site and online participation, while aiming to minimize the known downsides of a hybrid format.
Tuesday and Thursday (main conference) as well as Monday and Friday (industry and policy leaders’ day as well as workshops) are primarily dedicated to in-person presentations. Nonetheless, several of these sessions will be livestreamed so remote participants can watch, take part in discussions, and ask questions via chat. Some formats, however, such as the ConverStations and the Zine, are specifically designed for intensive in-person interaction and thus cannot be streamed.
Wednesday is fully dedicated to hybrid presentations. All papers will be presented on this day in 3-4 parallel sessions, whether the presenter is attending in person or remotely. This enables remote participants to block one day in their calendar on which they can engage with a large number of papers, while still being able to watch keynote presentations on other days. Hybrid-equipped rooms will support live discussion between on-site and online participants.
The hybrid ticket provides access to all streamed and hybrid sessions. Presenting authors who are not attending in person must purchase a hybrid ticket and be available on Wednesday to present their paper.
