Name:Marcel Seger
Bio:

Marcel Seger is a DPhil (PhD) student at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE), University of Oxford. As core member of the iDODDLE project, which is embedded in the ECI Energy Group, Marcel’s research explores the role of digital technologies in unlocking demand-side flexibility (DSF) of electric vehicles (EVs). His thesis takes on a socio-technical perspective, combining engineering and social science approaches. To this end, he applies a wide range of methods, including mixed-integer linear optimisation techniques, user study research (UI/UX) through semi-structured interviews and discrete-choice experiments. Marcel’s research is motivated by a real-world application of EV workplace charging, in collaboration with BMW UK and the Oxford SDG Impact Lab. Find out more about his experience as research fellow.

Prior to starting his DPhil, Marcel completed his undergraduate and graduate degree (B.Sc. / M.Sc.) in Industrial Engineering at Technical University of Munich (TUM). In addition, Marcel gained an Honours Degree in Technology Management from the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM), one of Europe’s leading tech education programmes.
