Saumendu Roy is a PhD candidate at the Software Research (SR) Lab, University of Saskatchewan. He began his PhD journey in September 2021, focusing on the cutting-edge domain of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) in software defect prediction. His research focuses on bridging the gap between machine learning model accuracy and interpretability, ensuring practical and actionable insights for developers. Beyond academics, Saumendu has excelled as a leader and collaborator, including serving as former President of the Computer Science Graduate Council (CSGC) at the University of Saskatchewan. He is also deeply involved in community service, volunteering with organizations like the YMCA and leading initiatives in cultural and academic associations.
