Lessons from Industry on Automated Program Repair
Automated Program Repair (APR) is a rapidly-growing area of software engineering involving the automatic refactoring of code and the generation of patches to fix code defects and bugs. In his keynote, Serkan Kirbas will share observations and insights derived from real-world experience using this emerging technology within Bloomberg. He will focus specifically on the software engineers’ experience and practical aspects of getting automated code changes accepted and used. Furthermore, he will share his thoughts on the future of APR in industry.
Serkan Kirbas is a Software Engineering Team Lead at Bloomberg. His team is responsible for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in the Feeds department. He also has a PhD in Software Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul (2017). He is passionate about industry and academia collaboration and pushing research ideas beyond prototypes, making real products out of them.
