Evolving System Design While Tracking Live Pitches and Players For Thousands of Games!
Mon 15 Apr 2024 09:10 - 10:10 at Lopes Graça - Opening, Keynote, Design Exploration Chair(s): Yuanfang Cai
Major League Baseball plays over 2400 games a year - Statcast is the platform that captures all of the action on the field and allows us to share and learn the stories of baseball. However, this system is not static and continuously undergoes evolutions to the architecture to improve breadth, accuracy, and reliability of the platform. In this talk, we will discuss how MLB reasons and considers what design decisions we undertake and how we reason about the essential tradeoffs and constraints.
