The International Women’s Degree Programme in Computer Science (IFI) has been in existence since the year 2000 as a mono-educational computer science degree programme at Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Germany [1]. IFI was established to attract and retain more young women in IT. The IFI programme focuses on software engineering and software development in various application contexts. Between 2005 and 2018, more than 200 young women successfully completed their studies at IFI and have since gained several years of professional experience. This paper presents a current retention study of these graduates and their employers. The aim of the study is to identify experiences, success factors and obstacles in the course of their studies and careers in order to gain insights into the gender-sensitive and sustainably successful design of study programmes in software development and work design. The retention study explicitly addresses the question of how the IFI graduates assess their mono-educational study experience in retrospect and compares their career path with that of co-educationally trained female IT specialists.
