Amid ongoing concerns over the scarcity of females in software engineering, this study examines gender disparities within software engineering education, in particular at a UK university. It reveals differences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, mirroring wider UK sector trends. Utilizing institutional data, national benchmarks, and a survey of Master’s students, the research explores gender diversity and performance differences. Our findings indicate that the gender disparity observed at our university reflects the broader UK context. Through this analysis, we aim to identify strategies to narrow the gender gap in student enrollment at our institution and share these insights.
