We discuss job seeking (including career options, arranging now for resume items later, and your dissertation itself) as well as advice for success in a domain featuring novelty and risk. Drawing on my own experiences and those of my students, I consider activities you can practice now for post-Ph.D. success. We focus on three lenses: yourself (leadership, overcorrecting to feedback, and saying no), one-on-one interactions (blank page tests and bake-offs, perceptions of praise, and speculative apologies), and group discussions (hearing everyone, when to allow false beliefs, and how anxiety may influence listening). Finally, I present a personal “CV of Failures” before providing direct responses to audience questions.
