Carlos Henrique C. Duarte is a senior member of technical staff of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), currently assigned to work at the Brazilian Institute of Statistics and Geography (IBGE) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He holds Ph.D. (Imperial College, London, UK, 1999), MSc (PUCRio, Brazil, 1994) and BMath (UFJF, Brazil, 1992) degrees in computing. From 2003 to 2012, he was an operations manager at BNDES, in charge of funding more than 50 technology companies. He was also the BNDES representative in the Brazilian Information Technology Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (CATI/MCTI) and deputy board member of the Society for the Promotion of Brazilian Software Excellence (Softex). His current research interests are digital transformation, software and requirements engineering, distributed systems, public policy, information technology and healthcare. Carlos Henrique is a senior member of the IEEE and a distinguished contributor of the IEEE Computer Society. His biography was listed in Marquis Who is Who in the World in 2007 due to his contributions to the Brazilian software industry.
