\textbf{[Context and motivation] }Digital Twins (DTs) are virtual replicas of physical systems that mirror their characteristics and behavior. They serve as valuable tools for understanding system behavior, predicting maintenance needs, and supporting decision-making processes. This paper addresses the challenges associated with the design of complex DTs.

\textbf{[Principal ideas/results] }The primary focus of this research is to enhance the reusability of DTs by incorporating reusable components that seamlessly integrate with other systems and environments. This approach aims to reduce the time and cost involved in designing complex DTs, making them more accessible and practical.

\textbf{[Question / problem] }The main question this paper seeks to answer is: How can we design DTs that are adaptable, interoperable, and reusable, considering the complexity and cost associated with their development?

\textbf{[Contribution] }To address this question, the study collects data from various sources, including existing literature and interviews with domain experts. By analyzing this information, the research identifies key concepts and practices for modeling DTs and defines design elements that prioritize adaptability, interoperability, and reusability. The proposed requirements and architectural design elements contribute to advancing the field of DTs design and align with the broader objectives of sustainable software development.
