Name:Antonio Pedro Santos Alves
Bio:

I’m a PhD student in Computer Science with a strong foundation in software engineering and applied data science. My journey started at 15 during a technical course at SENAI Petrópolis, where I first explored C and Java programming and discovered my passion for technology.

I earned my BSc in Computer Science from UFSJ, where I engaged early in extension and research projects. These experiences gave me hands-on practice with Java, Android, Python, Chatbots, Complex Networks, and Data Mining.

After graduation, I pursued an MSc in Informatics at PUC-Rio, focusing on Data Science. My research bridged Software Engineering and AI, including a large-scale international survey on challenges in Machine Learning projects.

Professionally, I began as a Junior Software Engineer contributing to production systems and client-focused projects using Python, VueJS, and JavaScript. In 2023, I started working as a Data Scientist, building ML models to predict oil and gas streams for Petrobras, supporting real-time operational decisions, and reducing waste in refineries. Lastly, in 2024, I worked as a PhD researcher, where our goal was to explore the challenges of fast-paced data science development and how Software Engineering practices could help.

Today, in my PhD, I continue investigating Requirements Engineering for AI systems — including challenges introduced by LLMs and other AI agents — to narrow the gap between academia and industry.

I’m passionate about using technology and data to deliver meaningful solutions. Always open to new challenges, collaborations, and opportunities to make a real-world impact.
