Call for papers

2023 CfP Call for Experience Reports and Perspectives

Industrial experience reports and industry perspectives provide the opportunity to share practical experiences and viewpoints through a short paper and a presentation at EASE 2023. An experience report is a reflection of the authors’ own industry experiences in which they may present challenges they have faced, approaches they have applied to address these challenges, as well as insights into what they would do differently now and what challenges remain. A perspective is an opinion piece on a relevant, current, and possibly controversial, topic based on the authors’ collective experiences on that topic. We invite you to submit a short paper in which you briefly explain your own, unpublished experience or perspective related to evaluation and assessment in software engineering. We encourage submissions describing joint experiences and perspectives developed in collaboration with academia or research organizations. Submissions can be as short as 2 pages, but should not exceed 4 pages.

We solicit industrial experience reports and perspective papers on topics including but not limited to the following:

  • Assessing the benefits/costs associated with using chosen development technologies
  • Cross- and multi-disciplinary methods and studies
  • Case studies, action-research, design-science, and field studies, including multilevel research designs
  • Development and evaluation of empirical prediction systems or software estimation models
  • Empirically-based decision making
  • Evaluation and comparison of techniques and models in real-world contexts
  • Experimentation in an industrial context, including A/B testing and quasi-experiments
  • Modeling, measuring, and assessing product and/or process quality
  • Replication of empirical studies and families of studies
  • Software engineering analytics
  • Simulation-based studies in software engineering
  • Software project management and knowledge management
  • Software technology transfer to the industry
  • Raising the profile of assessment, experimentation, and evidence-based approaches for software systems in an industrial context

Important Dates for Industry Track Submissions

Industry experience reports and perspective papers (max 4 pages) submission: 10 March 2023 17 March 2023
Submission notification: April 14, 2023
Camera-ready versions due: April 28, 2023

Submission Details

Please submit your papers via: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ease2023 All papers will be peer-reviewed and should be at most 4 pages long, including all text, figures, tables, and references. Submitted papers must be written in English, contain original unpublished work, and conform to the ACM Proceedings Format (https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template ). You can find a template for the industrial experience reports here. Papers submitted for consideration must not have been published elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review elsewhere for the duration of consideration. The conference enforces the ACM Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism (https://www.acm.org/publications/policies/plagiarism-overview) After the notification deadline, authors of accepted papers will be asked to complete a copyright form and will receive further instructions for preparing their camera-ready versions. At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to register and present the results at EASE 2023. All accepted contributions will be published in the conference electronic proceedings and appear in the digital library of ACM.
