Software change impact analysis plays an important role in controlling software evolution in the maintenance of continuous software development. Unlike the mainstream of impact analysis that utilizes requirements traceability, we proposed and developed a tool for change impact analysis, which directly outputs candidates of the components to be modified for a change request. The tool machine-learns change histories each of which includes a change request and the corresponding modified components. We applied the tool to real project data and evaluated it with two metrics: coverage range ratio and accuracy in the coverage range. The results show that the proposed tool works well for the type of software projects that have many change histories for the same source code base.
