Assessment of Scrumming: A Gamified Scrum Dashboard for training students
Gamification has emerged as a powerful tool in software engineering and project management, enhancing user engagement, motivation, and team collaboration. However, accurately assessing the extent of gamification within a strategy remains as a complex challenge. In this paper is evaluated the Scrumming strategy, which gamifies Scrum dashboards to improve motivation and performance in software project management courses. Using a comprehensive framework designed to assess gamification elements, components, and principles, was analyzed the adoption of gamification elements (inductive approach) and verified their alignment with core gamification principles (deductive approach). The framework incorporates a model that calculates the level of gamification through a set of variables and equations, providing objective indicators of the gamification level at different dimensions. The results offer valuable insights into the impact of gamification on student motivation, task completion rates, and team collaboration, a set of recommendations was developed to optimize the strategy for future implementations. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on gamification in educational contexts, particularly in agile project management environments.
