Call for Papers

UPDATE: The submission deadline has been extended to July 15th, AoE

About

The ASE’24 Industry Showcase track aims to promote dialogue between industry practitioners at the forefront of software automation practices and academic researchers who work on theoretical and practical foundations of automated software engineering. We are specifically looking for submissions on the critical challenges that the industry faces in automated software engineering, innovative solutions built to address these challenges, and lessons learned from applying automated software engineering at scale.

This track seeks submissions in all areas of automated software engineering. Accepted industry showcase papers will be published in the ASE 2024 proceedings.

Call for Papers

We invite industry practitioners and academic researchers to submit innovative solutions and/or challenging problems in any topic relevant to automated software engineering.

All submissions must be in PDF format and conform, at time of submission, to the to the ACM Proceedings Template: https://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. LaTeX users must use the \documentclass[sigconf,review]{acmart} option.

Submissions should prioritize impact and realistic applications over novelty. We expect that industry track publications focus on automation, report useful tools, success stories, and experiences for applying automated software engineering theory and methodologies into practice, or highlight practical challenges. Submissions should ideally be evaluated on real-world industrial data or compared to pre-existing industrial best practices. Marketing or public relations material is not solicited.

The ASE Industry Showcase track accepts the following types of papers, which should be submitted in PDF format using the following link: https://ase2024-industry.hotcrp.com/

Long papers (10 pages + 2 pages for references): Ideal for practice-oriented research papers or case studies.

Short papers (5 pages + 1 page for references): Ideal for shorter contributions, tech transfer stories, experience reports, or visionary ideas.

Each paper should describe an industry-relevant problem and discuss how automated software engineering solutions can be/have been applied to address this problem in an industrial context. Discussions on the innovation, cost savings, and productivity improvements brought by the solution and important lessons learned should also be discussed if appropriate.

By submitting your article to an ACM Publication, you are hereby acknowledging that you and your co-authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM’s new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of this policy or any ACM Publications Policy will be investigated by ACM and may result in a full retraction of your paper, in addition to other potential penalties, as per ACM Publications Policy.

Please ensure that you and your co-authors obtain an ORCID ID, so you can complete the publishing process for your accepted paper. ACM has been involved in ORCID from the start and we have recently made a commitment to collect ORCID IDs from all of our published authors. The collection process has started and will roll out as a requirement throughout 2022. We are committed to improve author discoverability, ensure proper attribution and contribute to ongoing community efforts around name normalization; your ORCID ID will help in these efforts.

Accepted Papers

All accepted papers will be published in the ASE 2024 proceedings, and the authors will be invited to present their work during the conference. After acceptance, neither the authors' names nor the papers' titles can be changed in the camera-ready version except when the track co-chairs explicitly permit this change.

Review Process

All submissions will be reviewed by at least three program committee members of the ASE Industry Showcase track. Submissions will be evaluated according to several criteria, in addition to the clarity of presenting the paper, namely:

  • Originality: Submitted papers shall demonstrate how they advance the current state of the practice in their respective industrial contexts.

  • Relevance to industrial application context: Submitted papers to this track must have relevance to the industry, which must be clearly described in the paper.

  • Significance of contributions: The paper should explain how significant the work is in particular compared to the existing related works and similar industrial contexts.

  • Generalizability and scalability: The evaluation will consider generalizability and scalability concerns and discuss how the results are applicable beyond the specific industrial context of the paper.

Submissions will not undergo double-blind reviews; the authors do not have to hide their identities in their submissions.
